The objectives of this research group<\/strong> are focused on the following basic aspects:<\/p>\n

Infections in transplant patients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To study the clinical epidemiology and risk factors of the most prevalent and serious infectious complications in solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantations.<\/li>\n
  2. To assess the risk factors for mortality due to an infectious cause in solid organ transplant patients.<\/li>\n
  3. To develop biomarkers that will allow for determining the degree of immunosuppression of a transplant patient and their risk of developing an opportunistic infection or cancer by means of the development of clinical and analytical scores.<\/li>\n
  4. To develop a laboratory of immunological techniques adapted to the evaluation of the immune response and the risk of infection by cytomegalovirus and other opportunistic microorganisms.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Infections in the oncohematological patient:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. To study the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of bacteremia caused by multidrug resistant gram-negative bacilli in hematological patients.<\/li>\n
    2. To discover new methods aimed at managing invasive fungal infections.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Infections in other immunosuppressed patients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. To assess the viral load of anelloviri (Torque-Teno virus) in patients with inflammatory joint diseases (in collaboration with the Rheumatology and Dermatology Services).<\/li>\n
      2. To develop measures to prevent infections in patients receiving biological drugs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Nosocomial infection:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. To study the clinical implications of candidemia.<\/li>\n
        2. To develop a program aimed at controlling nosocomial infections and promoting the adequate use of antimicrobial agents (PACTA Program).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
