Description

The Translational Research Group on Pediatric Infectious Diseases (GITIP) of Hospital 12 is an emerging group that focuses its interest on clinical research on pediatric infectious diseases and the susceptibility of the host to infections.

The areas of interest are HIV infection in children, S.aureus infections, congenital infections (mainly cytomegalovirus, toxoplasmosis and Chagas), pertussis and tuberculosis and tropical infectious diseases.

Other priority areas are nosocomial infections and the development of antimicrobial stewardship programs. The group has a special interest in promoting clinical trials in children, and actively lead the Pediatric Clinical Trials Unit.
